Brief Tips

Nov 15, 2005

This month we feature a pegging play used by Sharlene Medeiros, winner of the Niagara Falls 2005 Open, in a playoff game against me in Chicopee MA in July 2004 that I used playing HAL in a practice Web mode game on Nov 5, 2005.

It is the first deal of the seventh game of the web match.

I kept 9 clubs 10 clubs J clubs Q clubs, discarded 2 clubs 2 diamonds, and starter was A diamonds.

The play proceeded as follows:

 3 15-2 25-1 19
 3 Hearts 2 spades A clubs 9 diamonds
     9 diamonds 9 clubs J clubs 10 clubs
     13 24 10 29-4

This is one of many instructive pegging plays Sharlene inflicted on me that day in her 3-game sweep play-off win.   If you have x-10-J-X play the X if opponent leads a 3 and after 15-2 play the x to keep the 10-J for a possible 9-trap. *nbsp; It may work for you like it did for Sharlene and myself.
