Joseph Henry DONY - Born at Beaumaris, Anglesey (Wales).  Worked with brothers at carriage works, Wolverton.  Moved to Luton, 1872, to work at Hayward - Tylers where all his children, except May, subsequently worked.

John Dony Field Centre named in his honor.

[4] Alfred Francis DONY b.1883 (timeline) England d.1953 Canada (at age 70),  m. Millicent (Amelia or Millie) BATES, b.1885, England d.1955 Canada (at age 70).  Both are resting at White Chapel Memorial Gardens cemetery in Hamilton, Ontario.

Amelia's parents were Albert (a Shoemaker) b._d._ and Martha (b.1886 d.1928) BATES had 6 children named Laura, b.1866, Martha, b. 1868, Annie, b. 1875, Albert, b.1878, Harry b.1882, Millicent (above Amelia or Millie ) b.1885 and Eva b.1888. 

Alfred immigrated to Canada 1906 (age 23).  He returned to England in 1914 to visit and bring Millie to Canada.  They were married in Toronto on May 16, 1914 (start of WW1).  

Alfred was a tool and die maker probably through his father insistence that all of his sons follow in his footsteps. Alfred worked in Toronto possibly for a firm that was building the Welland Canal, Jack (b.1915), Bill (b.1916), and Edna (b.1919) born during the time.  The family moved to Varna, in southern Ontario (near Goderich) to open a new business partnership making engines. The business failed and they relocated to Clinton (still near Goderich), where Irene (b.1921) was born. Moved again to Egmondville (by Seaforth) in 1924 and may have worked in a furniture factory.  Settled in  Hamilton in 1928 - at 119 Markland Street (Frank b.1931) then to119 Homewood in 1935.  He worked in the town of Dundas at John Bertran and Sons (a foundry).  Alfred died on Christmas eve 1953, at 69 years of age, and had been in Hamilton for 24 years.  He was active in the Scouting movement, a captain in the St. Johns Ambulance and secretary of local 414 AFL International Association of Machinists.  

[A] John (Jack) A. DONY b.(timeline)1915, d 02/13/2004, Canada, m. Hester Rosemond BYERS b. 1917 d. 1977 Jack and Hester were married in 1941.  They moved to California where Jack worked as a type setter for a newspaper. Fearing the draft for the Vietnam war they returned to Canada in 1967 and located to Victoria. Hester rests in White Chapel cemetery in Hamilton, Ontario.
