TRUSTEES FAILED IN BUDGET BATTLE

Flamborough Post
If school board Chair Judith Bishop and Vice-chair Reg Woodworth are unwilling to provide the good governance necessary to work with the province to balance their books, they should resign.
In an Aug. 21 issue of the Flamborough Post, Woodworth claims that (auditor Charles) "Smedmor's figures are wrong," and further mused, "I think it's badly flawed."
The auditor's report shows Hamilton's trustees have been lame-duck school politicians for quite some time and there is little hope this will change any time soon.
More telling of the boards entrenched position against the province is their bitter "underfunding" rhetoric caused by the results of their inability to live within the increased funding envelopes provided to them by the province. We all have to live within our means.
It has always been the trustees elected duty to show good governance for the taxpayer's funds they administer, by striving for excellence and cost efficiency which would allow more funds to be put in the classroom. In this regard, they have failed.
