Hamilton Spectator While pondering the spirit of benevolent kindness that makes Hamilton my ideal community, many heartwarming gestures come to mind," Mark Alan Whittle of Hamilton wrote in a letter to The Spectator. "Who could forget that caring young man or women who opened the door for me out of common courtesy and respect or the benevolent stranger who bent down to help me pick up a toppled basket of groceries. These selfless acts of kindness expressed by the citizens of Hamilton show a basic level of kinship and understanding that makes me proud to be a Hamiltonian. "Most poignant of all was the delight bestowed upon my son Logan by a caring and benevolent individual. Cerebral palsy has limited Logan's ability to move about freely. When participating in outdoor activities, safety approved equipment is a necessity Because Logan's school lacked an approved swing seat for the disabled, my little Logan was unable to enjoy this basic physical activity When my friend heard of Logan's plight, he had a special big red swing seat installed at the school's playground and paid for it with his own money. He refused my offer of reimbursement. Helping others unconditionally, as my friend (outgoing Hamilton Mayor) Robert M. Morrow did makes me proud to say Hamilton is my kind of town."
