Why do homosexuals crave the exclusionary symbols of marriage and procreation so desperately?

Why do they ­ and their proponents ­ believe taking away something so sacred to society will legitimize the lifestyle choices they have made that many consider abhorrent? How preposterous of our courts to entertain, pure folly for politicians to do like-wise and an abomination for the Catholic Church to admonish them.
