MARK-ALAN WHITTLE Hamilton Mountain, October 7th, 2003 IF ELECTED WARD 7 TRUSTEE I WILL 1. Support a revitalization plan for school renewal across the district -- $75 million invested in building 10 new schools. 2. Strengthen the role of school councils so that parents have more influence in school and Board governance. 3. Eliminate the assessment backlog in special education and work to improve service delivery in the classroom. 4. Support and promote teacher mentoring to improve classroom learning and equip new teachers with the skills needed to succeed. 5. Work to ensure all elected trustees emulate the values of respect, innovation and accountability. 6. Insist on fiscal responsibility so that local priorities funding can be use to enrich classroom services and programs. My extensive commitments in the community include the following past and present committee appointments. - Communications Chair for the Hamilton Area Advisory Council for the Easter Seal Society. - Past Vice-Chair of the Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities for the City of Hamilton. - Past Member of the Status of Women Sub Committee for the City of Hamilton. - Past Member of the Keep Hamilton Clean Committee for the City of Hamilton. - Founding Member of the Assembly of School Councils for the HWDSB. - Member at Large of the Ridgemount Public Elementary School Parents Council. |
