Justice served?
Re: Have mercy on Robert Latimer, April 26.
As a parent of a disabled boy not unlike Tracy Latimer I take offence at Donna Laframboise's defense of convicted murderer Robert Latimer. To me he is just another cold-blooded killer who wants special treatment. No matter how much his supporters prey on society's guilt by urging our government to have mercy on him, I for one do not. My son was asphyxiated at birth with cerebral palsy the result. I know he deserves to live his life to the fullest. Unlike Robert Latimer, I would rather die trying to make things right for my son than take the wrong and easy way out and provide a horrible and ugly death by tail-pipe. Latimer should be made to pay his full debt to society as ascribed by law.

Re: She Should be Sterilized, April 12.
Now that the Jordan Heikamp inquiry has ended with a rush of condemnation and yet another lengthy list of heartfelt recommendations for the children's aid society, why do I feel nothing substantial will be done? This inquiry has revealed a mountain of evidence to show that a number of "professionals" charged with Jordan's protection have failed in their obligations to put Jordan first and have breached a moral and ethical code that cast a dark pall over workers in the system who are competent and compassionate. Further, allowing those guilty of such alarming lack of judgment and competence to continue looking after children such as Jordan is an outrage. In the real world, they would have been fired four years ago. If the Toronto Catholic Children's Aid Society wants to show the public it is serious about changing its ways it should clean house.
