July
This month the Rose Garden takes you to the beach. Dig your toes in the warm sand and skip a pebble into the bright water. Climb up the cliff path and wander through the wildflowers while you listen to the crash of the surf below.
Then run down to the beach and fling yourself into the waves. The water's so cold it takes your breath away. But you laugh for the sheer joy of it.
Soak up the beauty as you soak up the sun. The summer, the water, the shore -it's all yours! Enjoy.
The door swung shut. Cool twilight air rushed to greet her. She swung her bike onto the driveway, Headed for the shore and the sea. Along the dusty red lane She passed black-eyed susans, purple asters, Goldenrod in the tawny grass. She stopped at the beach Resting her elbow on the handlebars. The sun was a scarlet saucer Slipping into the water. The lapping water at her feet Was stained with pink and gold. She stood for slow minutes And when the spectacle was over, Climbed the steep hill toward home.
