November Links

Each month the Rose Garden will recommend four world wide web links.
These links are categorized as follows:

Link of the Month: The Internet Movie Database

In the long dark evenings of November it's great to cozy up with a blanket and a couple of good videos. The Movie Database offers information about over 200,000 movie and TV titles, and over 400,000 actors and directors. The site has a powerful search engine that allows you to access information by the name of the film, character, director or actor. Links to movie reviews are also offered, so you can see if anyone else shares your opinion about the stinker you just watched!

Hamilton, Ontario Link: Canadian Parents for French - Hamilton Chapter

French immersion programs have mushroomed across Canada over the past several decades. Bilingual education is an increasingly popular option for parents. The benefits and opportunities - in Canada and across an increasingly interconnected world - are appreciated as never before. Canadian Parents for French is a national organization with provincial and local chapters which support parents of french immersion and core french students. The Hamilton Chapter web site contains information about Hamilton FI schools, special events and workshops as well as an overview of the benefits of french immersion.

Children's Link: Donna's Day

This site has evolved from the PBS children's program of the same name. Donna Erickson has produced a host of imaginative, colourful and fun family entertainment and recipe ideas. The site features highlights from the show's first two seasons: from wacky bubble brew to homemade ice cream. Let your imagination run wild.

World Issue Link: Peanut Allergy

Any parent will tell you that a peanut allergy is no laughing matter. Peanut allergy.com is a complete guide to what it means to have a peanut allergy and how to manage it. The site offers support groups, free e-mail updates on allergy alerts, discussion boards and issue pages ranging from school support to airline travel. Think twice before you pack that peanut butter sandwich in your child's lunch.
