October
The air grows cooler and the days shorter.
The leaves begin to turn and scent of autumn fills the air. Children
begin to look forward to Halloween and decide what costume to
wear. Parents hope that Jack Frost will hold off until trick or
treating is over. Otherwise a parade of little pirates in winter
coats and ballerinas in long underwear will shiver on the doorsteps!
This month the Rose Garden celebrates pumpkin
season with caramel corn and scarecrows. Come and jump in the
leaves with us!

The Haunting
I find them in my lunch bag,
And in my office drawer,
They call to me at midnight
From behind the cupboard doors.
They seem so small, so tiny.
What harm could one more do?
I slip them in my pocket,
And in my handbag too.
Perhaps next week I'll wonder,
"Where could they all have gone?"
I'll find the empty packages
And realize what I've done.
But now I'm happy eating,
Mini chocolate bars in bed.
I guess I'll give the "trick or treaters"
Healthy snacks instead!
