Adult Book:

If Only They Could Talk -By James Herriot
1970
These delightful and engaging stories about the trials and tribulations of a newly qualified veterinary surgeon in the 1930's have always made me laugh out loud.
James Herriot must win the confidence of eccentric local farmers as he battles injury and disease in their animals. At the same time he develops a rapport with the quirky brothers who hired him for their practice.
Herriot's semi-autobiographical tales of the life of a Yorkshire country veterinarian are a treat for any reader and will especially appeal to animal lovers.

Children's Book:

Ozma of Oz -By L. Frank Baum
1907
Far too many children today have only seen the film version of "The Wizard of Oz". The book is far better, and the sequels are all wonderful too!
Ozma of Oz is the story of little Dorothy Gale's encounter with the wicked Nome King and her brave rescue of the Queen of Ev and her ten children.
Dorothy is reunited with her friends the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman and she finds new friends in Billina the hen and Tic-Tok the machine man.
L. Frank Baum wrote fourteen books about the marvellous land of Oz. Get them all. Each book is more fantastic than the previous ones!
