September Links

Each month the Rose Garden will recommend four world wide web links. These links are categorised as follows:
  • Link of the month
  • Hamilton, Ontario link
  • Children's link
  • World Issue link

Link of the Month: Canadian Geographic Magazine

The Royal Canadian Geographical Society is dedicated to imparting a broader knowledge and deeper appreciation of Canada – its people and places, its natural and cultural heritage and its environmental, social and economic challenges. One of their major initiatives is the publication of Canadian Geographic Magazine. The magazine's web site features: environmental news, selected articles from recent issues of the magazine, Canadian maps, trivia and wonderful photographs.

Hamilton, Ontario Link: Hamilton 701

A great overview of Hamilton-Wentworth. This site includes pages on local news, sports, entertainment, family, travel, community events and many other topics. There are links to Hamilton owned businesses and articles submitted by local writers. The site is updated weekly so check it often.

Children's Link: Dr. Universe

Dr. Universe is a cat with connections. She accesses University research and other scientific databases to answer children's questions. Her answers are presented in simplified and fun language and are never "dumbed down". Check out the questions of the day or search the archives for previous queries about a topic of your choice.

World Issue Link: Female Circumcision

Millions of women in African and Asian countries live in chronic pain and suffering due to this prevalent practice. Increased immigration from these countries means that this issue is now affecting women and children in North America. Knowledge is power. Educate yourself about this topic.
